Description

Milliman's Medicaid Finance and Policy practice is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Business Development & Operations Associate to support strategic business development initiatives and day-to-day operations within our practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional with a passion for operational excellence, business development and marketing, and leveraging technology such as AI to drive efficiency and innovation.

Who We Are

Milliman's Medicaid Finance and Policy Practice serves state Medicaid agencies and a wide variety of organizations significantly impacted by Medicaid reimbursement and funding, including hospital associations and safety net hospital systems. The practice is affiliated with the broader Milliman Medicaid Consulting Group consisting of 600+ professionals, including actuaries, healthcare consultants, attorneys, and statisticians.

Responsibilities



  • Support the execution of business development initiatives, including proposal writing (responding to RFPs), conference tracking, resume updating and tracking, competitive analysis, and pipeline management.
  • Assist with practice management improvements to streamline internal processes and support practice growth.
  • Coordinate virtual business development and practice management meetings as well as annual onsite practice meeting.
  • Maintain and enhance the practice's SharePoint-based intranet, ensuring it is user-friendly, organized, and a valuable resource for our staff for business development and practice management purposes.
  • Draft and edit high-quality written materials, including proposals, reports, communications, templates, and knowledge management assets.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform business strategy and related decision-making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with consulting teams, marketing, IT, legal counsel, and leadership to support strategic priorities.
  • Partner with consultants and Milliman legal teams to assist in the execution of legal documents and contracts through Milliman's Enterprise Legal Management system.
  • Explore and implement AI-powered tools and solutions to improve business processes and team productivity.
  • Track key metrics and prepare regular updates on business development and operational performance.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience in business development/marketing or a related field-ideally in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills; ability to synthesize complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working with SharePoint or another content management system, including content creation and basic site management.
  • Interest in and familiarity with AI technologies, including how they can be applied to business problems and process improvement.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and willingness to learn new tools and systems.
  • Interest in building a career within the healthcare industry, particularly related to Medicaid and other government health and human services programs.

Location

The candidate hired into this role is expected to work in-person in the Milliman office in Chicago, IL, on a hybrid basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered, and a remote position would be considered for a highly qualified candidate. Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $65,200 - $119,830. For candidates residing in:



  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $74,980 - $119,830.
  • All other locations the salary range is $65,200 - $104,200.



    A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
