Determines best practice methods and sequences of manufacturing operations. Ensures products and processes meet customer quality requirements by providing input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification. Supports the Win Strategy environment. Encourages use of modern manufacturing processes and automation. Defines roles and responsibilities for team. SCOPE/SUPERVISION AND INTERACTION: __X__ Has Direct Reports This position has supervisory responsibility; however, this position mentor's entry level Manufacturing Engineers and new employees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Evaluates and develops innovative solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing production problems through identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes including conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers; including automation and 3D printing. Manage those and familiar with the preparation and review of written and graphical work instructions to communicate manufacturing requirements and the required tooling to production personnel. Evaluates capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Manage those and familiar with the preparation and review of design concept drawings and implementation of new equipment, prototypes or modifications to existing equipment. Manage the overall implementations of capital equipment projects. Investigates and prepares manufacturing methods for new products and prototypes in a timely manner. Prepares and carries out tool redesign and alterations, change in material specification, dimensions, methods, routing, etc. Standardize manufacturing methods. Evaluates, recommends and implements changes to current manufacturing processes by analyzing production, labor standards, and material cost, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements. Implement new methods for higher productivity. Supports the integration of Computer Aided Testing, 3D printing and other automation tools into the production process. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Assure process control and reliability for broad areas of manufacturing that may include supplier base as appropriate for capability audits. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing "design for manufacture and assembly" plans. Refines and enhances products and process by applying continuous improvements and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical or high-impact areas of production. May lead special projects for a variety of products and processes. Frequent formal and informal customer interface to present program status, including analysis of product failure, probable cause, and corrective action plans. Assure product and process quality by design testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements. Determines root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g. design of experiment, statistical process control) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods. Directs and/or performs in the following areas: Supplier management, supplier audits, product disposition, corrective action, and internal audits. Manages internal corrective and preventive action through returns from customers. Writes accurate manufacturing procedures to ensure customer requirements are maintained. Supports the reviews of contracts for compliance to customer quality requirement. Create and/or maintain the documentation of the Manufacturing Engineering roles/responsibilities with defined daily, weekly, monthly, time architecture tasks that rounds out a lean environment through standard work. Update Parker procedures as required. AAG JOB REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of the relevant manufacturing, quality or operations support function that would typically be obtained through a bachelor's degree in a manufacturing-related business or technical discipline, and eight or more years of progressive experience within the specialty area. Demonstrated ability to perform the described role and responsibilities and obtain the desired results. Certification or a professional designation in a specialty area may be required or preferred depending on position requirements. Four or more years of increasing responsibility for leadership within manufacturing operations requiring advanced project planning and team organizational skills. Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives. Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities. Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals. Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change. Thorough understanding of production technology, and/or specialty support areas including broad knowledge of business and regulatory environments and trends. FSD IRVINE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Support, Participation, Ownership for: Simple By Design (SbD) ideas, cost savings. Automation ideas, estimating, implementation. Test Equipment Team tasks to support Production. Root Cause Corrective Action Investigations including the use of 5-Why, 8D, Fishbone tools. Lean production tracking of actual vs. standard time tracking studies. Mechanical, Electrical, Software responsibility of Production Test Stand Equipment.
