San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Application Systems Manager manages all aspects of projects including resource allocation and budget requirements to ensure timely completion of projects. The Application Systems Manager collaborates with business partners across the organization and establishes the short and long-term strategies for application support. The Application Systems Manager is responsible for managing the operating expense and managing and coordinating the activities of the assigned professional and technical staff. This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Application Systems.

WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Responsible for oversight of assigned IT staff, including but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training and performance management. Work. Work with employees to correct deficiencies and implement discipline procedures, write performance evaluations and establish staff development plans,
  • Supervise and ensure the proper functioning of assigned applications including site configuration, administration, troubleshooting problems/conflicts and making recommendations for new application solutions.
  • Ensure all cloud backend systems and integration processes are working at optimal efficiency.
  • Work internal business units to develop strategies to meet their business initiatives. Create gap analyses for current and future business system needs.
  • Maintain documentation, which includes current/future system data flow diagrams.
  • Evaluate new tools for development and reporting.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR



  • JOB EXPERIENCE


    • Five years of experience in related field required.



  • EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS


    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred.



  • SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE


    • Strong working knowledge of current and emerging IT products, services, processes and methodologies.
    • Knowledge of computer systems design.
    • Working knowledge of programming and implementation of third party application software knowledge and best practices.
    • Must have effective customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in a diverse environment.
    • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines using effective time management skills.

The posted salary range represents the full compensation potential for this role over time. Initial hiring offers are typically made within the lower to mid portion of the range and are based on a combination of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and organizational considerations. Placement near the top of the range is generally reserved for individuals who demonstrate sustained performance, growth, and expanded responsibilities in the role over time.
