Join Ecolab as a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Specialist at our largest North American manufacturing facility in Joliet, IL. This role is a key member of the extended Plant Leadership Team and supports building, leading, and sustaining a strong safety culture and worldclass SH&E systems across a 24/7, highcomplexity manufacturing operation, consistent with the site's broader SHE strategy and leadership expectations. The SHE Specialist supports Safety, Health & Environment within Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and is an active member of the SHE Pillar, partnering closely with Operations and Maintenance to embed safety into equipment, processes, and daily work systems while eliminating safety losses and exposure risks. What You Will Do:
- Lead, own, and continuously improve the site's Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Management Systems, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Maintain environmental permits and compliance records, including air, water, and waste requirements.
- Support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of SHE programs, systems, and procedures to protect employees, the community, and the environment.
- Serve as a member of the SHE Pillar within TPM, supporting pillar strategy, governance, and maturity progression while driving elimination of safety losses.
- Partner with Operations and Maintenance to integrate SHE requirements into equipment design, operation, and maintenance to prevent injuries and equipment related risks.
- Monitor and reduce chemical, physical, and biological hazards; recommend improvements to processes, equipment, and procedures to minimize risk.
- Support industrial hygiene, chemical exposure control, and process safety programs.
- Lead and support investigations of incidents and near misses, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure timely, sustainable corrective actions.
- Use leading and lagging SHE metrics to analyze trends, drive action plans, and provide performance insights to plant leadership.
- Assist in developing and delivering employee training, emergency preparedness programs, and reinforce strong safety culture practices.
- Support safety observations, behavior-based safety programs, and safety committees.
- Coordinate and support ECAP and other SHE audits; partner with leadership to close findings and prevent recurrence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental, Health, or a related field
- 3 years of relevant SHE experience (preferably in manufacturing or industrial environment)
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable safety/environmental regulations
- Experience supporting SHE management systems and compliance programs
- No immigration sponsorship available for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a TPM operating system and/or SHE Pillar
- Experience with industrial hygiene, process safety, or chemical manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated ability to influence frontline teams and partner across Operations and Maintenance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in RCA methodologies
- Experience driving safety culture initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
Site Information: The Joliet, IL facility is Ecolab's largest North American manufacturing site. The 600,000squarefoot, 24/7 operation manufactures approximately 900 formulas and 1,700 SKUs, including liquid, powder, organic, and cast products that support clean water, abundant energy, and safe food.
Annual or Hourly Compensation Range
The pay range for this position is $74,700.00 - $112,200.00. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
