POSITION SPECIFICS

The Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications seeks a highly organized and technically skilled Producer/Director to support broadcast operations, student training, and production activities. This role will be filled at the Producer/Director - Intermeditate Professional/Advanced Professional level.

This role is responsible for managing studio facilities, training students, supporting academic programming, and contributing to broadcast and audio production efforts across the college.

Key Responsibilities: Studio Operations and Technical Support
  • Maintain, schedule, and troubleshoot two broadcast studios and three voiceover booths
  • Coordinate facility usage for both academic and non-academic productions
  • Collaborate with the IT department to manage facility card access and technical needs
  • Research emerging broadcast industry technologies and recommend equipment upgrades
Student Training and Instructional Support
  • Train students in broadcast classes, as well as affiliated organizations and clubs, on studio and field equipment
  • Design and deliver hands-on workshops, instructional materials, and visual guides throughout the academic year
  • Provide training on field recording equipment and broadcast-related software tools
Production and Content Management
  • Produce a 10-minute radio news broadcast each semester
  • Support projects including newscasts, podcasts, and other audio related productions
  • Assist with the college's internet radio station (CommRadio) and other TV productions as needed
Curriculum and Content Administration
  • Develop, organize, and maintain supplemental production materials each semester using cloud storage
  • Archive course and production materials at the end of each semester
Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in audio broadcast production and operations
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and organizational skills
  • Experience training and instructing students or production teams

Technical Skills: Candidates should have working knowledge of:

  • Mac OS
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Adobe Audition)
  • Ross Inception newsroom software
  • WheatNet consoles and Alesis mixers
  • Tascam SD field recorders
  • Comrex telephones, JK Audio phone interfaces, and Denon SD recorders

Work Arrangement: This is a fully on-site role based in University Park, PA.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $74,000.00.
