EisnerAmper is seeking a highly motivated Director to join our growing State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. This leadership role is ideal for a technically strong indirect tax professional who possesses an entrepreneurial mindset, excels at building client relationships, developing talent, and driving practice growth. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, lead complex multistate indirect tax consulting engagements, mentor and develop professionals, and play a significant role in expanding EisnerAmper's presence throughout the Southeast.

What Work You Will be Responsible For:
  • Lead complex multistate sales and use tax consulting engagements for middle-market and large clients across diverse industries.

  • Advise clients on nexus, taxability, exemptions, sourcing, tax automation, audit defense, voluntary disclosures, and controversy matters.

  • Serve as a primary client relationship leader and trusted advisor.

  • Review technical analyses, memoranda, taxability studies, and client deliverables.

  • Collaborate with professionals across tax, audit, transaction advisory, technology, and industry groups to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow the indirect tax practice in the broader Southeast region.

  • Identify, cultivate, and close new business opportunities through networking, referrals, industry involvement, and internal cross-selling initiatives.

  • Expand relationships with existing clients and serve as a catalyst for multidisciplinary service offerings.

  • Participate in proposal development, thought leadership, speaking engagements, and marketing activities.

  • Build and maintain a strong network of referral sources, business leaders, and industry contacts.

  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop high-performing professionals.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and client service.

  • Manage engagement economics, staffing, project execution, and client satisfaction.

  • Support the continued development of the firm's indirect tax service offerings, methodologies, and technology-enabled solutions.

  • Assist in developing and executing long-term growth strategies for the SALT practice.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field.

  • CPA required; MST and/or JD preferred.

  • 10+ years (Director) of progressive state and local tax experience with significant focus on multistate sales and use tax consulting.

  • Experience in public accounting, consulting, or a national advisory firm environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex client relationships and lead teams.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of:

    • Economic nexus and marketplace facilitator rules

    • Taxability of tangible goods, software, SaaS, and digital products

    • Tax automation and systems implementations experience

    • Audit defense and controversy

    • Voluntary disclosures and remediation projects

    • M&A transaction tax due diligence and planning

  • Track record of building and maintaining client relationships.

  • Success identifying and developing new business opportunities.

  • Ability and desire to contribute meaningfully to revenue growth and market expansion.

  • Entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset.

  • Business development and relationship management skills.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.

  • Collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring others.
