Summary:

The Technical Instructor III shall provide instructor services and support to meet resident and virtual learning training requirements.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Instructional Delivery:
    • Prepare for and deliver standardized course materials as prescribed in the Instructor Guide, including content, sequence, timing, audiovisual presentation and instructional methodology.
    • Perform lead role in the implementation of training. Presents specific courseware modules using established guidelines from the client and IAW current instructional course design models.
    • Administer, correct and review quizzes, tests, final exams, practical exams and assignments, and papers as required for the program and maintain security over all teaching materials, e.g. tests, answer keys, answer sheets, and student grades. These materials shall not be improperly reproduced or distributed and must be immediately provided to the Training Specialist/Course Manager.
    • Report student discipline problems to the Training Specialist/Course Manager for resident courses, or local site representative for non-resident deliveries as soon as possible
    • Brief students on the end-of-course and long-term evaluation processes and facilitate completion of that process where applicable
    • Refer all student requests for exceptions or academic considerations to Program Manager, instructor may not at any time approve exceptions to program policies.
    • Student liaisons during ICU clinical rotations to seek out problems or issues for student assignments
    • Instruct, as needed, during didactic time of clinical rotations
    • Execute approved course delivery plans in accordance with milestone schedules and imposed deadlines.
    • Conduct after action reviews and evaluations; implements recommendations based on student and client input
    • Didactic time is during standard Plan of Instruction (POI) time of 0700-1700. Clinical rotation component of the course will occur during days and nights typically (8-12-hour shifts).
    • Duration of clinical rotations are 4 weeks, including weekends.
  • Non-Podium Instructional Development Tasks:
    • When not actually performing classroom instruction, such time would be used in support of course delivery to prepare and complete course-related educational developmental tasks.
    • Provide professional/subject matter expertise to the instructional delivery, design, development, and execution of training programs.
    • Recommend revisions and updates to existing training materials.
    • Research professional literature, doctrine, regulations, policies, and training materials; and collaborate with civilian and military experts on training material revisions and updates.
  • Knowledge and Expertise: The contractor shall be knowledgeable in critical care transport, to include flight and transport protocols, role responsibility, and operation of equipment utilized in flight.
    • The contractor shall be knowledgeable in pharmacology to include critical care medications, intravenous medication titration, equipment utilized to administer medication, medication interactions, contraindications, and reversal procedures.
    • The contractor shall be knowledgeable in hemodynamics and effects of critical care diagnoses on body system, pharmacology, and pathophysiology.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical Instructor III/ Nurse (RN/BSN): Nursing Licensure for clinical component support of the courses is required. (Nurses will not provide patient care/treatment services).
  • Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) Required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience required of direct patient care in a critical care setting required. Examples include direct patient care on an Intensive Care Unit, dedicated position providing direct patient care in the Trauma/Resuscitation section of a Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department.
  • MSN (or) DNP (or) PhD, (or) a BSN with a master's degree in a related field, preferred.
  • Must have an active and current nursing certification in Texas. Certification must be maintained while employed in this position at contractor's expense.
  • Maintain nursing licensure in Texas current at contractor's expense.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS.
