CAGE MANAGER - SALARIED

The Role: Manages and oversees all Cage and Count activities and employees while ensuring regulatory compliance and positive gaming experiences for guests. Must be able to obtain and maintain an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission Class C license. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities:



  • Providing superior guest service positively affects interactions with guests and employees and has the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and the ability to work effectively and courteously with fellow employees.
  • Deal with high-volume customer interactions and be consistently outgoing, upbeat, and cheerful.
  • Delegate authority and assign responsibilities and work schedules to department staff.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to Cage and Count departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations pertaining to casino banking.
  • Maintain strong controls to safeguard cash.
  • Monitor cash needs to minimize amount of cash-on-hand.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, including capital expenditure.
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure superior guest service and budgetary compliance. Ensure all Cage and Count department employees are providing optimum service to all guests.
  • Interview, hire, develop, and evaluate department staff.
  • Approve and administer disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Review all departmental activity with Controller and Director of Finance.
  • Utilize training and existing policies and procedures to make sound business decisions.
  • Continuously strive to build and maintain rapport with guests by promptly and professionally handling disputes and making every effort to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Track and complete all government reporting.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality relative to financial information, operating systems, company policies and procedures, marketing plans, and employee and guest information.
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Have knowledge of customer alcohol limitations and company policy and procedure regarding limitations.
  • Have complete knowledge of all casino events and promotional activities and assist as needed.
  • Build guest relations throughout every shift by talking with customers, making them feel welcome and comfortable, and inviting them back.
  • Handle routine customer complaints and incidents and exhibit the appropriate discretion to identify situations requiring the attention of supervisory personnel - seek to resolve all situations in a manner that maintains positive guest relationships.
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and Company policies in an ethical manner and empower and require others to do the same.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by business operations, including late nights, weekends, and holidays; shifts may change.


  • Proficiency in supervisory skills for managing the cage and count departments.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications:



  • Must possess excellent teamwork, interpersonal, customer service, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission Class C license.
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Must have a professional demeanor and presence with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in the Company and in external organizations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • All team members must be knowledgeable to all Company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations.


  • At least five years of experience in casino cage operations or the banking field is preferred; a 4-year degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience is highly preferred.
  • Gaming experience is highly preferred.
  • Must possess excellent guest service skills to effectively deal with guests.
