Is responsible for inspecting and documenting landfill construction activities to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities
- Performs inspections to ensure established standards-especially those related to design control, procurement, inspection and testing-are maintained and EnergySolutions customers receive high-quality products and services.
- Ensures that adequate testing and observations are being performed according to the Construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control (CQA/QC) Manual.
- Follows and maintains QC plans, procedures and checklists used during the inspection of construction activities.
- Performs and documents inspections (e.g., dimensional inspections, in-process inspections, receipt inspections and release inspections).
- Performs inspections and testing of embankment construction as outlined in the CQA/QC manual: waste material placement, excavation, foundation, clay and synthetic liners, and radon barrier.
- Reviews inspection results and completes reports on inspection activities in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Ensures proctors, classifications, gradations, nuclear moisture-density, sand cone density, and moisture tests are completed as required by the CQA/QC manual.
- Performs independent project surveillances as assigned.
- Supports the resolution of nonconforming conditions.
- There is no supervision of other workers at this level.
- Responsible for the quality of their own work.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Basic math, computer and mechanical skills
- Ability to perform highly repetitive motions with fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders, and legs
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Ability to work around moving vehicles and rotating equipment
- Ability to wear protective equipment such as: goggles, ear plugs, hard hat, gloves and steel toe boots
- Ability to read small text, documents and procedures
- Ability to perceive depth and adjust focus
- Ability to see close and distance, basic colors/shades, and peripheral vision
- Basic hand/eye coordination; ability to manipulate packages
- Certified in hazardous waste worker, radiation worker, and respirator medical qualification
- Ability to work around ionizing radiation
