POSITION: Accounting & Payroll Supervisor TYPE OF POSITION: Non-Represented Exempt 12 Month, Full time -- 230 days Hours may vary based on program needs REPORTS TO: Controller SUPERVISION: Yes SALARY: $80,000 - $110,000 QUALIFICATIONS: Required * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (experience may be substituted for education in exceptional circumstances) * Three to five years of accounting and/or payroll experience * Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite Preferred * Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)and Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS) * Skyward software experience * Supervisory experience * Previous experience in school district finance POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting & Payroll Supervisor leads the daily operations of the District's payroll processing and general accounting functions. Based in the Business Services department, this position ensures accurate, timely employee compensation and compliance with state and federal financial regulations through financial processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Assists with all financial accounting for the district, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and efficient processes * Complete monthly bank reconciliations * Oversee and manage the timely, accurate processing of payroll for all staff members * Review and reconcile various general ledger accounts related to subsidiary accounting functions including payroll, benefits, accounts receivable, and accounts payable * Helps maintains cash flow records to ensure availability of cash to meet current expenditure requirements and invest excess funds in accordance with district investment policy * Provide day-to-day direction, training, and performance evaluations for the payroll and accounting support team * Troubleshoot and resolve complex payroll, tax or benefit-deduction questions * Enter various journal entries in Skyward, ensuring compliance with UFARS coding * Oversee and manage federal/state tax withholdings, submissions, W2 generation and TRA/PERA reporting * Oversee/assist with Special Education financial reporting through the SEDRA System * Budgeting and reporting for state/federal grants * Assist in the preparation of the annual financial audit * Assist with the financial accounting and reporting for federal, state, and local grants * Assist with the semi-monthly payroll * Organizes and manages a functional filing system that ensures the safe retention and efficient retrieval of office records in accordance with established state and federal laws * Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: * Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing BENEFITS: We offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week*.
