Summary/Objective Owns the operational delivery of client commitments across the environmental laboratory network. This role has direct accountability for what is promised to clients - including turnaround times, data quality, and capacity - and for the Lab Directors and line leadership who deliver against those commitments. Essential Functions
- Operational Service Line Leader
- Serve as the service line owner for ATG's Environmental Lab business, responsible for overall performance and growth of the service line
- Own and fulfill client commitments and delivery on core performance metrics (e.g. safety, quality, TAT, OTD, client responsiveness, revenue, revenue growth) across all laboratory location
- Build broader geographic capabilities to drive growth to hub locations in line with ATG's lab strategy and growth prioritie
- Manage operational and capital budgets for laboratory locations.
- Commercial Engagement - Support commercial growth through:
- Prioritization of markets and opportunities for campaigns for Service Line Sales Leader and ATG Commercial
- Ensuring lab location ownership of local commercial strategy and proper engagement with lab-dedicated sales and local ATG BDMs
- Drive client relationship strength through cascaded outreach efforts across the network with key clients and accounts
- Ensure marketing strategy reflects unique value propositions of ATG's lab strategy and targets critical client segments and geographies.
- Partnership on Client Experience Integration, and Strategy
- Works in close partnership with the VP of Client Experience / Integration, jointly owning the shared KPIs and governance mechanisms that connect operational execution to client satisfaction.
- Own and respond to client-facing escalations surfaced by the VP of Client Experience / Integration within agreed SLA timeframes
- Incorporate leadership input into PM and Lab Director performance reviews on CX dimensions
- Ensure that strategic growth initiatives are being resourced and supported by Lab Operations
- People Leadership, Mentorship, and Stewardship
- Provide general business leadership and mentorship within the organization.
- Manage, mentor, and develop Lab Directors and line leadership for continued growth.
- Develop succession plans and growth plans for key roles and ensure sufficient capacity and redundancy of our people resources
- Strategic Growth Initiative Champion
- Ensure that strategic growth initiatives are being executed
Supervisor Responsibilities Directly supervises Lab Directors and line leadership across all laboratory locations, including hiring, scheduling, assigning work, reviewing performance, and recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations. Indirectly oversees Project Managers who report to Lab Directors. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 15 years of Laboratory Management experience.
- Experience managing a network of laboratories operating $40-$80M revenue.
- Ability to develop multiple physical locations, with occasional travel.
- Extensive knowledge of industry applied methodology, common approaches, and laboratory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience setting and delivering against client-facing operational commitments (turnaround times, data quality, capacity)
- Experience working in a peer leadership model alongside a client experience or commercial function
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- General knowledge of chemistry and lab operations.
- Core financial knowledge (CAPEX, P&L, EBITDA).
- Management skills; ability to lead a team and provide training and guidance.
- Consensus building & leadership.
- Excellent skill level in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both with internal customers and external vendors.
- Professional behavior and appearance.
- Ability to travel to alternate lab locations periodically.
- Ability to be organized and attentive to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task, follow up on pending issues, meet deadlines, and work independently.
