Job Description

The NVHI Performance Engineer is responsible for supporting vehicle, system, and component noise, vibration, and sound quality performance across vehicle programs. This role contributes to NVHI development, validation, and integration activities through testing, analysis, issue resolution, and crossfunctional collaboration. The position supports both handson technical execution and programlevel NVHI performance delivery from early development through production.

Primary Responsibilities



  • Track NVH attributes/component status to target using scorecards, report status and escalate issues to Projects teams
  • Support NVHI development, validation, and integration activities at the vehicle, system, and component levels.
  • Establish and develop NVH enablers required to meet program targets for NVH attributes such as Road Noise, Powertrain Noise, Wind Noise, Ride Comfort, etc
  • Conduct and support NVHI testing, including test preparation, data acquisition, subjective evaluations, and postprocessing.
  • Analyze NVHI data and provide clear technical summaries, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Support NVHI assessments across operating conditions, including powertrain, road, wind, accessory, and interior noise.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (e.g., Design, CAE, Manufacturing, Suppliers) to identify root causes and implement NVHI solutions.
  • Scheduling and coordinating NVH benchmarking, standardized testing and target setting.
  • Work closely with technicians, mechanics, and engineering peers during vehicle test and development activities.


  • Support Global NVH Road Map / Decoupled Development Activities


  • Quantify NVH effects and provide recommendations for Cost Reduction and Quality initiatives
  • Support identification and development of new technologies


Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from an ABETaccredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 years engineering experience.


  • Working knowledge of NVH analysis Software (i.e. LMS, Head Acoustics, B&K)
  • Familiarity with Structural Dynamics, Chassis Design, and Acoustic Theory


  • Fundamental understanding of vehicle systems and overall vehicle functionality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong planning, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively within crossfunctional teams.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in vehicle, powertrain, or component NVH development or validation.
  • Demonstrated experience using NVH measurement and analysis tools such as:


    • Siemens Simcenter Testlab
    • HEAD Acoustics ArtemiS
    • MATLAB / Simulink



  • Vehicle Dynamics or Chassis Experience
  • Structural dynamics experience
  • NVH CAE modeling experience
  • Experience with NVH data acquisition, processing, analysis, interpretation, and issue resolution.
  • Exposure to NVH rootcause analysis methods (e.g., transfer path analysis, modal analysis, angle domain analysis).
  • Experience with active or electronically controlled NVH systems (e.g., ANC) is a plus.
  • Proven ability to solve technical problems and communicate solutions clearly.
  • Experience working with, or supporting, crossfunctional or crossorganization engineering teams.
