Job Summary

The Fabrication Associate is responsible for fabricating and preparing steel pipe for fire sprinkler systems in a manufacturing environment. This role involves measuring, cutting, threading, assembling, and moving pipe while operating fabrication equipment safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate has experience in industrial manufacturing or manual labor, is mechanically inclined, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Fabricate steel pipe for fire sprinkler systems according to work orders and specifications.
  • Move loose or bundled pipe throughout the shop and yard using safe material handling practices.
  • Assemble pipe orders and maintain organized work areas and materials.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain pipe fabrication equipment, including pipe threaders, band saws, roll groove machines, plasma cutters, automatic welding machines, and pneumatic banders.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bevel, and groove pipe using appropriate fabrication equipment.
  • Accurately measure, record, and verify pipe lengths using tape measures and gauges.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure fabricated products meet specifications.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to cutting, fabricating, stacking, and shipping pipe.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines and company safety procedures.
  • Perform basic equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 6 months of recent experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or manual labor environment.
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment or industrial machinery preferred.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure and quality gauges.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions.
  • Strong mathematical skills for measurements and material calculations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills for operating automated equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle steel pipe throughout the workday.
  • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to varying temperatures.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
