Position Title: Biospecimen Coordinator I

Work Location: Tucson, AZ, 85755

Assignment Duration: 6 Months

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Overtime may be required based on business needs)

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Position Summary:

This requisition is for an onsite Biospecimen Coordinator. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Biospecimen Coordinator. This role is essential to our daily operations, ensuring that sample shipments are processed, triaged, and tracked with high precision.

Background & Context:

You will be instrumental in maintaining accurate chain of custody and supporting various workflow improvements within the BioSample Management Group at our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

* Receives and opens sample shipments and performs triaging of samples to respective testing locations.

* Performs accessioning of samples and quality control of demographic data input. Communicates with clients on held and rejected samples.

* Performs labeling of samples and quality control check of labeling.

* Performs imaging of stained slides returned from Pathology, ensuring all deliverables are met within the required timeline.

* Coordinates the execution of all internal and client requests, including global shipments of sample while maintaining accurate chain of custody.

* Manages team email by ensuring all requests have been completed.

* Leads and ensures deliverables are met for one or more process improvement workstreams within the BioSample Management Group as assigned.

* Other duties as assigned by management.

* Sample Intake & Triage: Receive, open, and triage incoming sample shipments, directing them to the appropriate testing locations.

* Accessioning & QC: Perform sample accessioning and conduct quality control checks on demographic data entry to ensure accuracy.

* Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding held or rejected samples, resolving issues promptly.

* Labeling & Documentation: Execute sample labeling and perform final quality control checks to verify labeling accuracy.

* Pathology Support: Image stained slides returned from Pathology, ensuring all deliverables are met within established timelines.

* Logistics Coordination: Manage internal and client requests, including global sample shipments, while maintaining rigorous chain of custody standards.

* Operational Management: Oversee the team inbox to ensure all requests are tracked and completed.

* Process Improvement: Lead and drive deliverables for assigned process improvement workstreams within the BioSample Management Group.

* General Support: Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualification & Experience:

* H.S. Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* 4 years of related experience.

* Strong understanding and knowledge of good laboratory practices and regulatory compliance.

* Ability to work with relevant computer software packages, including spreadsheets and word-processing packages (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word), is essential.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work under time pressure while maintaining high standards of precision and data quality.

* Experience: 0-5 years of relevant experience.

* Problem Solver: You possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.

* Communication Skills: You are a clear, professional communicator, both verbally and in writing.

* Detail-Oriented: You have a meticulous approach to your work and a high standard for quality.

* Multitasker: You can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

* Preferred Qualifications: Prior knowledge or experience with sample tracking software is a plus.

Additional Information (If Applicable):

Performs sample accessioning in CDx CAP/CLIA Laboratory. Follows standard procedures in performing the tasks, knowledgeable with CAP, CLIA and other accrediting and regulatory agency requirements in laboratory practice and utilizes good documentation practices and following laboratory safety policies. Leads one or more process improvement workstreams within the BioSample Management Group as assigned.
