Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Duration: 12 Months (Extension possible)

Location: Johnston, IA 50131

Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8am-5p

Description

With guidance and supervision, assist technical personnel with routine laboratory operations, data collection, and information management in support of scientific research. Perform tasks according to established methods, standard operating procedures, and training provided by the work group.

We are seeking a motivated Plant Transformation Lab Technician to support our gene editing technology development pipeline through plant transformation and tissue culture activities. This is a hands-on laboratory role that requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and organized workflows. The successful candidate will be proactive in identifying and resolving problems, execute tasks efficiently, and contribute to a safe and productive laboratory environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Plant Sciences, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and a general understanding of scientific principles and laboratory practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in performing laboratory tasks.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and execution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Experience with plant tissue culture and transformation methods in an industry setting preferred.
  • Experience with light and fluorescent microscopy preferred.
