- Support network deployment activities for data center and/or backbone networking environments.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to reduce risk, increase consistency, and improve delivery timelines.
- Leverage automation tools and scripting to streamline repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of automation workflows, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure deployments align with technical requirements and timelines.
- Maintain clear documentation of deployment activities, issues encountered, and remediation steps.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of overall experience.
- Willingness to work shift work.
- Experience with network design and deployment in enterprise and/or data center environments.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage automation to improve reliability and efficiency (e.g., scripting, orchestration, or automation frameworks).
- Proven ability to identify operational/process gaps and drive practical improvements.
- Working knowledge of common networking technologies and concepts (e.g., routing, switching, redundancy, troubleshooting methodologies).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Large data center deployment experience.
- Experience at major tech companies (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle).
- Prior leadership or program management experience overseeing deployment teams.
- Experience with Tier 2 providers building large-scale data centers.
- Fortune 10 enterprise experience with extensive network infrastructure.
Surrounding Team & Key Projects:
- This role supports Client's large AI supercluster initiative in Ohio. The team is building multiple data centers to create what will be the largest AI cluster at client-and potentially the largest in the world.
- The project operates on a continuous deployment model with 24/7 coverage. These engineers will not be performing hands-on deployments; instead, they will provide program oversight, helping deployment engineers remove blockers, holding other teams accountable (similar to a technical PM), and understanding deployment processes end to end.
- The ideal candidate must be able to identify gaps and problems, escalate appropriately, communicate effectively across cross-functional teams, and understand the processes for turning up the cluster. This is a fairly senior role where leadership and the ability to own and drive deliverables are critical.
Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with multiple teams on the ground regarding deliverables-what's due today, this week, and this month.
- Ensure all tasks are managed and aligned with objectives.
- Track progress toward turnover capacity milestones.
- Remove blockers for deployment engineers and escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain visibility across workstreams and ensure accountability among stakeholders.
- Communicate status updates and risks to leadership and cross-functional partners.
Performance Measurement
Performance will be measured by:
- Successful tracking and oversight of deployment milestones and deliverables.
- Effectiveness in identifying and escalating blockers in a timely manner.
- Quality and clarity of communication with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to drive teams toward turnover capacity objectives.
- Contributions to process improvements and operational consistency.
- Responsiveness and reliability during assigned shift rotations.
What Makes This Role Interesting?
- This is a rare opportunity to play a critical role in one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the tech industry-Prometheus, client's largest AI supercluster.
- As a Network Engineer V, you will be at the center of a massive, continuous deployment effort, helping to build what may become the largest AI cluster in the world. Rather than executing deployments directly, you will serve as a program-level leader, driving accountability, removing blockers, and ensuring that cross-functional teams deliver on time.
- This role offers exposure to cutting-edge data center technology, large-scale network architecture, and a fast-paced, high-impact environment. It is ideal for experienced engineers who have transitioned into leadership or program oversight and are looking to make a significant impact on critical infrastructure at a global scale.
