Medical Lab Technician I

Location: 810 Hospital Dr., Blacksburg, VA 24060

Duration: 05 months Contract to Possible Hire (Extension Possible)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

We are seeking a Medical Lab Technician I to support a busy Core Laboratory and Physical Office Lab (POL) in Blacksburg, VA. This position is ideal for candidates with strong laboratory and phlebotomy experience who are comfortable performing specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and routine laboratory procedures in a patient-facing environment.

• Perform laboratory testing in a Core Laboratory and Physical Office Lab (POL) setting.
• Collect blood specimens through venipuncture (approximately 15-20 draws per day).
• Perform Point-of-Care (POC) testing.
• Conduct urinalysis, urine microscopic examinations, and wet prep testing.
• Process, label, and prepare specimens according to laboratory procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and laboratory quality standards.
• Operate laboratory instruments and perform quality control procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate patient testing.

• Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent qualification meeting CLIA testing personnel standards.
• Previous experience working in a Core Laboratory.
• Hands-on phlebotomy experience.
• Comfortable performing 15-20 blood draws per day.
