Job Title: Phlebotomist I

Location: 2415 Musgrove Rd., Ste. 209, Silver Spring, MD 20904

Duration: 3+ Months (Contract to Possible Hire)

Schedule: Monday - Friday (40 Hours/Week)

Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Phlebotomist I is to perform blood collection, specimen processing, and provide quality patient care while following established laboratory procedures, safety standards, and compliance requirements.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Perform approximately 20-25 blood draws per day.



  • Collect blood specimens using appropriate venipuncture techniques.



  • Perform specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, packaging, and preparing specimens for transport.



  • Ensure laboratory requisition forms are accurately matched with specimen tubes.



  • Maintain proper specimen storage according to laboratory guidelines.



  • Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation in the system.



  • Follow OSHA guidelines and all laboratory safety and compliance procedures.



  • Provide excellent customer service while explaining collection procedures to patients.



  • Assist with daily workflow to ensure timely specimen processing.



  • Perform other related duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED.



  • Recent phlebotomy experience.



  • Experience performing approximately 20-25 blood draws daily.



  • Comfortable working with adult patients (18 years and older).



  • Specimen processing experience.



  • Basic computer skills.



  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to compliance.



  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.




Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous experience working in an IOP (In-Office Phlebotomy) setting.



  • Knowledge of laboratory specimen handling procedures.



  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.




Additional Details:


  • Contract duration is approximately 3+ months with the potential for extension and conversion to a full-time Labcorp employee.



  • Two weeks of onsite training will be provided.



  • Candidate will primarily work independently.



  • Position requires standing approximately 4-5 hours per shift.



  • No travel is required.



  • Strong adherence to laboratory procedures, compliance policies, and safety protocols is essential.
