Job Summary (Primary function)

The Sr. Staff Scientist in DMB provides cell culture and bioanalytical assay expertise to the In Vitro and Dose Preparation team (IVDP) in support of discovery and development programs at Incyte.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities):

Under appropriate supervision, the incumbent will work in one or more of the following technical areas:

  • Manage the overall planning, execution and quality of routine cell culture procedures including cell maintenance, expansion and cryopreservation
  • Independently manage, conduct, analyze, report and archive weekly in vitro permeability and transporter cell-based assays (e.g., transwell Caco2 and/or MDCKII Pgp/BCRP) while maintaining timelines, high quality and scientific rigor
  • Able to independently operate laboratory LC-MS/MS instruments for sample analysis.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks, including reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, and supply management
  • With appropriate supervision, analyze data, identify experimental issues compromising data quality, record data, prepare summary documents and reports as needed
  • Timely, accurate and compliant entry of experimental data into Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN)
  • Troubleshoot routine assay, cell culture, and instrumentation issues and communicate findings clearly
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous documentation in accordance with internal procedures and data integrity expectations.
  • At all times adhere to laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, and waste management procedures
  • As required, contribute to and author study reports in support of IND/NDA submission documents
  • Train and assist other scientists in the group with operation of the LC-MS/MS systems and cell culture techniques

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

  • BS/MS or equivalent in relevant life sciences discipline with 3 years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in aseptic sterile laboratory cell culture technique preferred
  • Strong skills in bioanalytical method development, validation and sample analysis
  • Knowledge of DMPK, ADME and overall drug discovery and development process
  • Excellent organization, documentation, and communication skills
  • Prior experience with LC-MS/MS analyses and the use of microphysiological systems (e.g., organ on a chip) are highly preferred
  • Ability to independently manage assigned tasks while meeting timelines and quality expectations in a fast-paced work environment
