Situation in organization

Reports through a non-union supervisor to the Production Manager

Job dimensions

The Chemical Operator works in a union environment and follows a rotating, seven day a week schedule, working 12 hour shifts. Sartomer operates a batch process and the chemical operator will be trained in all aspects of the job to maintain our strong safety, environmental and quality culture.

Key Activities and responsibilities

Operations 80%

  • Safely perform all required duties to ensure proper production of Monomers and other products as required
  • Utilize DCS to safely control production
  • Movement of materials to operational location.
  • Proper identification and charging of raw materials into production vessels as defined by the batch packet
  • Use of appropriate checks for production of first time prime products
  • Proper labeling and packaging of product.
  • Accurate completion of batch packets with focus on lot numbering, weights and properly using SAP bar code scanners to move materials.
  • Proper completion of vessel rinsing and cleaning procedures.
  • Complete Impact reports for any incidents that occur during production
  • Troubleshoot production issues and work with appropriate departments and management to fix

Other 20%:

  • Keep current on all training required in LMS and other training platforms
  • Participate in RCA's, SWP process, PHA and other as required

Context and environment

Chemical manufacturing facility with all the inherent environmental risks and safety hazards

This is a rotating shift position that requires regular night and weekend work.

Union shop

  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience

  • High School Diploma with basic math skills or GED required
  • Prior chemical manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude a must
  • Familiarity with Quality
  • Adherence to work procedures and instructions
  • Forklift experience strongly preferred

  • Good Communication skills, verbal and written
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to work in a union environment, on rotating 12 hour shifts
