Service Desk Supervisor

Job Summary

Drexel University Libraries, Elkins Park Campus Library, is seeking a highly self-motivated individual interested in gaining work experience in libraries to fill the position of service desk supervisor. This individual will be responsible for the supervision and operation of the Service Desk and overall functioning of the Library in the absence of professional staff.

Essential Functions

• Handling a variety of situations related to access, facilities and library services, often as the only staff on duty.
• Assisting library clients in locating materials, troubleshooting problems, and interpreting policies.
• Assisting Public Safety with access issues.
• Supervising student employees at the Service Desk.
• Performing general maintenance and troubleshooting equipment.
• Ensuring library statistics are recorded accurately.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 1-2 years
• Candidates must have strong customer service skills, be self-directed, and have acute attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred to have academic library experience, experience with library automated systems, and supervisory experience.

Physical Demands

• Typically sitting at a desk/table
• Lifting demands 25lbs

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time casual position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
