SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in Washington, DC, helping them break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them.

Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $64,916.80 to $68,739.84 and may be commensurate with experience.

Position Description: The Clinician utilizes evidence-based, trauma-informed best practices to provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, and clinical interventions to primary and secondary survivors of gun violence who have been directly referred from the Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement (ONSE). This role promotes holistic integration by collaborating with clients' care teams within SOME and external community partners. The Clinician also ensures continuity of care by providing warm handoffs, support, and referrals to case managers, prescribers, and other providers affiliated with SOME's programming.

Position is located at Conway Behavioral Health Services (BHS Conway) 4420 Benning Rd NE

Washington, DC 20019.

This position is grant-funded and dependent on the renewal of grant funding each year. The position will end after one year unless additional grant funding is secured.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week; Hybrid)

This position is currently approved for a hybrid work schedule, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Remote work is a privilege, not a guarantee, and may be modified or discontinued at any time based on business needs, operational requirements, or performance. Employees may also be required to report to the office on scheduled remote workdays as needed.

Required: Master's Degree; 1+ years' experience providing mental health interventions, working with underserved populations, and/or familiar with trauma-informed care

Preferred: Master's degree in social work; LICSW/LPC issued by the District of Columbia Department of Health; 3+ years' experience providing diagnostic assessments, trauma-informed therapy, and clinical care coordination.

Required License/Certification: LGSW issued by the District of Columbia Department of Health; Basic Life Support [CPR & AED] Provider

Expected Contributions: Mental Health & Trauma Treatment Services

• Assess clients for appropriate clinical interventions (SBIRT, diagnostic assessment, therapy, clinical referrals, etc.)
• Plan trauma-informed treatment for clients
• Provide screening, brief intervention, and referrals to clients who are referred to SOME's mental health programming
• Provide crisis intervention services for clients experiencing crisis in SOME's mental health programming
• Maintain an ongoing mental health, trauma, and/or grief therapy caseload of clients
• Facilitate groups, as assigned
• Ensure clinical notes are entered within 1 business day of intervention
• Participate in weekly case review meeting.
• Facilitate weekly case review meetings in collaboration with leadership or independently, as needed.

Expected Contributions: Clinical Care Coordination

• Support clients with adherence to appointments (outreach to clients who no-show)
• Collaborate and refer clients to appropriate internal and external providers to address client needs
• Refer clients to appropriate level of care as needed (Crisis Stabilization, ACT Teams, Hospitalization, CSAs, etc.)
• Support with basic case management, as needed

Integration:

• Attend various clinical meetings within FQHCs and SOME housing/mental health programming which promotes integration
• Provide trauma-informed mental health consultation to FQHCs, housing and mental health providers and staff
• Collaborate with client's physicians/ prescribers/ and providers to ensure client receives holistic care
• Provide coverage to FQHC, as needed

Supervisory:

• Ensure appropriate staffing levels, evaluate, hire, and train new employees.
• Contribute to budget development and ensure the budget complies with SOME's financial reporting requirements.
• Contribute to strategy development and strive to improve departments' performance and functions; assist in the development of standards and goals as appropriate.
• Schedule staff work hours as needed and monitor for time and attendance; approve timecards and requests for leave.
• Provide coaching and training for all staff, assist staff with work processes and policies, and encourage opportunities for professional development.
• Ensure billable services are processed in compliance with SOME regulations and other relevant regulatory bodies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of trauma, mental health, and substance use disorders
• Strong clinical skills including assessment and diagnosis, and trauma-informed treatment
• Knowledge of electronic health records usage and management
• Experience with or ability to learn brief interventions for walk-in and warm-handover clients
• Ability to work in a fast-paced FQHC environment

Reports To: Program Manager

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods. Must be able to travel to events and meetings off-site

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.
