TheTerafabteam is seeking an experiencedEquipment Safety Engineerthat willberesponsibleforensuringsafety is integrated into factory,equipment, and tooldesign from concept through productionforthe Austin Fab.You will collaborate with New Programs Engineering, AI & Robotics, Manufacturing, and design teams to develop standardized, high-quality safety solutions for automated manufacturing equipment. This role spans design, build, commissioning, and production support.Working both independently and cross-functionally, you will help solve complex safety challenges with practical, innovative approachesdriving safer workplaces, improving efficiency. What You'll Do
- Lead machine safety activities across equipment lifecycle from concept, design, build, to sustaining production
- Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments for automation, robotics, and manufacturing systems
- Ensure compliance with Tesla standards and global regulations (ANSI, ISO, OSHA, NFPA, RIA)
- Execute FAT and SAT to verify safety requirements and ensure equipment is safe for operation
- Validate safety control systems, including functional testing of safety PLCs and safety devices
- Partner with design, manufacturing, and external vendors to develop and deploy robust safety solutions
- Support audits, change management, and continuous improvement tomaintainsafe
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineeringor equivalentexperience
- 5+ years of experience in equipment or safety engineeringin the semiconductor or related industries
- Knowledge of machine safety systems and controls platforms
- Knowledgewith safety standards (ANSI, ISO, RIA, NFPA, OSHA, SEMI)
- Experience supporting design review, FAT/SAT, commissioning
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Certifications (CSP, CMSE)preferred
