Stamford Central School District Full Time Automotive (Bus) Mechanic The Automotive Bus Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and servicing school buses and other district vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Duties include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems, conducting brake and suspension repairs, servicing engines and transmissions, and completing inspections in accordance with applicable safety regulations. The mechanic maintains accurate records of repairs, maintenance, inspections, and parts used. The position may respond to vehicle breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed to minimize service interruptions. The Automotive Bus Mechanic operates tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery safely and maintains a clean, organized work area. The position works closely with transportation and school district personnel to identify vehicle needs and prioritize repairs. Successful candidates should possess strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
