Location:Cofer Center Job Summary Interpreting customer product specifications and industry standards, developing and maintaining cable designs, BOMs and issuing clear, concise manufacturing specifications, using Southwire Engineering Systems/CableBuilder. Communicating with Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Compliance to ensure specifications are accurate and comply with customer specifications and applicable industry standards. Candidate will support the sales quotation process by analyzing the customer requirements and creating cable designs with necessary details and BOMs for costing as well as maintaining the database for customer specifications, packaging, special requirements and sales correspondence related to quotes and orders. The role will also take a leading role in supporting the R&D New Product Development and Cost Out projects responsible for tasks related to product design and specifications. Key Responsibilities Assesses and leads the specification development process, ensuring that complex technical specifications meet the highest standards and comply with regulatory requirements. Provides direction and oversight for the creation, revision, and approval of product specifications, acting as the point of contact for cross-functional teams. Coaches and mentors junior engineers and technical staff, sharing expertise on best practices for specification development and providing guidance on complex technical challenges. Ensures that team members have the tools and resources necessary for successful specification creation and management. Conducts more complex analysis of product specifications, examining their compliance with customer requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations. Identifies opportunities for improvement and proactively suggests solutions to enhance product quality and functionality. Designs systems to improve specification processes, contributing to the development and implementation of standardized approaches that increase efficiency and consistency across the product specification lifecycle. Collaborates with product development and engineering teams to integrate new specifications and improve existing ones. Develops more complex technical documentation, including detailed product specifications, design standards, and technical manuals. Ensures that all documentation is accurate, clear, and fully aligned with organizational and industry requirements. Implements processes to improve specification management, optimizing workflows to enhance team productivity and reduce errors. Continuously evaluates and refines processes to ensure that product specifications are delivered on time and to the required quality standards. Helps establish and implement strategies to engage key stakeholders, working with internal and external partners to ensure that product specifications align with customer needs, market trends, and competitive products. Acts as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on specification-related matters. Implements cross-functional coordination strategies, ensuring that all relevant departments (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance) are aligned on the latest specification updates. Leads discussions and meetings with stakeholders to drive consensus on product requirements and design changes. Provides leadership for operational tasks and coaching for junior team members, helping to manage day-to-day specification development tasks. Offers constructive feedback and support to colleagues, promoting continuous learning and development within the team.
