Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, support the SVM strategic mission of recruiting a talented and diverse student body. Advise potential students on the DVM admissions process, and available student services. Assist in the planning and execution of DVM ceremonies and events.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Experience with project management or event planning and logistics.
  • Written and interpersonal communications skills, including tact and political acumen, and skill in effectively representing the School to the public.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively support team priorities.
  • Organizational skills to plan, coordinate and set priorities effectively, work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Computer skills sufficient to effectively work with databases and spreadsheets, utilize web-based software, maintain social media accounts, communicate by teleconference, update websites, create marketing materials, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using University travel and purchasing and pre-purchasing systems (i.e. Aggie Travel, Aggie Buy, etc.).
  • Experience advising graduate or professional students.
  • Experience with program evaluation and development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UC guidelines, principles, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment, skills to operate and train others.

Department Overview

Professional who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments / projects / tasks of moderate scope and complexity; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. Housed within the School of Veterinary Medicine Dean's Office, the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program is the largest professional program at UC Davis with an annual enrollment of 600 professional students. The program consistently ranks as the best in the world for veterinary medicine. The Admissions and Student Programs Office (ASPO) are led by an Associate Dean and is responsible for DVM admissions; diversity, equity and inclusion; student career service and leadership programming; events; and wellness programming. The DVM Admissions Officer serves as liaison to candidates and the public about the admissions process and available resources through email, phone calls and in-person conversations. Serve as lead coordinator for DVM ceremonies and events in support of the ASPO.

Work Environment

  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
