Essential Job Duties
The persontaking this position will support research on developing novel gene drive systems for
suppression of the New World screwworm. Their main duties will be rearing fly strains,
which will involve cleaning cages, preparing diet, setting cages, collecting eggs and setting
larval cultures, autoclaving waste, obtaining supplies, checking fly traps and working on
other tasks to support research of the senior staff working on the project. The personwill maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and follow all lab safety requirements andrequirements for 20-containment of genetically modified insects.
