Description Status: This is a full-time; hourly position Hours: Monday - Thursday: 5am - 3:30pm & Friday: 5am - 10am; overtime as needed Benefits Offered to Full-time Employees: Health, Dental, Optical, Medical FSA/HSA, Dependent Care (FSA), Basic Life Plan, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, 401K with Company Match, Profit Sharing (ROA), PTO (Vacation), Holidays, Jury Duty, and Funeral Leave JOB SUMMARY: Utilizes a variety of hand tools to layout and final finish complex granite materials according to production ticket specifications. Responsible for set up and operation of the Omag stone mills and saws. Operate jetter to obtain a quality finish on granite heads. Blast stone with sand to give appropriate finish. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Reads production tickets and determine hand finishing work that needs to be completed
- Use a tape measure, pattern and square to layout the stone; includes, but not limited to, various anchor and attaching holes, skill saw work, cut-outs, core holes, etc.
- Layout and shape complicated contoured granite material using grinders and skill saws.
- Obtain patterns from the pattern department to layout stone as needed.
- Apply multiple finishes such as VM, Bush hammer, 4-cut, corduroy, etc.
- Use torch to apply hand thermal finish.
- Grind and blunt the edges of the stone with a diamond die grinder.
- Utilize various power and hand tools to cut and finish the granite stone; includes, but not limited to, hi-cycle grinders, skill saw, angle and straight grinders, Hilte/hammer gun, various anchoring machines, hand coring machines, torch, etc.
- Clean stone as required; may require the use of solvents.
- Check stone quality and accuracy before and after work is complete according to ensure it meets production standards and production ticket specifications.
- Operate various cranes and lifting devices to move stone as needed.
- Scan bar code on production ticket to record work performed in JDE system.
- Operate, maintain, and monitor the omag mills/saws.
- Load programs from network.
- Use shims and wedges to ensure slab is level with the jetter booth.
- Apply established metrics and recipe to set the jetter tip appropriately for slab height, process speed, color, water pressure, and finish.
- Operates manual blasting booth - may require additional protective equipment including blast hood with respirator and full body sandblast suit.
Requirements
- Must have good hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
- Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
- Mechanically inclined.
- General math skills.
- Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
- Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
- Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
- Pass breathing test to wear supplied air hood.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
