Lead Researcher - Jasmine Plummer Lab

Join the laboratory of Dr. Jasmine Plummer as a Lead Researcher and contribute to cutting-edge research focused on understanding the genomic mechanisms that drive disease. This role offers the opportunity to independently execute and optimize research studies, troubleshoot complex experiments, analyze and communicate findings, and mentor junior team members.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in molecular biology, including single-cell genomics, cell culture, and CRISPR gene editing, along with a strong scientific foundation and passion for advancing translational research.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• Experience with single-cell genomics, including experimental design, sample preparation, data generation, and/or analysis.
• Hands-on expertise in cell culture techniques and cell-based assays.
• Experience utilizing CRISPR gene editing technologies for functional genomics or related applications.
• Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, troubleshoot, and optimize complex laboratory experiments.
• Strong scientific communication skills with a track record of contributing to publications, presentations, or research reports.
• Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior research staff and trainees.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail in experimental documentation and data management.
• Collaborative mindset and a passion for advancing innovative genomic and translational research.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and perform procedures using established or modified techniques/protocols
• Implement new but established protocols without individual training
• Troubleshoot experiments and identify anomalies in own data
• Consistently monitors current literature and trends within field
• Accurately record experimental procedures and data
• Prepare and report results/ data leading to posters, presentations, or publications
• Provide guidance to less-experienced team members
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required

Minimum Experience:

• 5+ years of research experience is required
• 3+ years of experience is required with a Master's degree
• No prior experience required with a PHD
• Strong knowledge and experience in understanding and application of underlying principles related to techniques being performed
• Experience in R&D methods and processes in lab setting, and execution of research projects for the laboratory preferred
• Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role
