  • Prepare and deliver financial statements, consolidations, and management reporting, including store-level P&L and PACE (Profit After Controllable Expenses) results.
  • Ensure the general ledger is accurate and all balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany balances are reconciled and supported.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and eliminations between retail, warehouse, and distribution entities.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and related functions.
  • Ensure accurate recording of tire and service revenue, wholesale and commercial accounts, warranty and road hazard programs, vendor rebates and incentives, and consumer financing activity.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including cycle counts, valuation, shrink, and reconciliations between stores, warehouse, and the general ledger.
  • Direct, develop, and hold accountable the accounting team.

Internal Controls, Audit & Compliance

  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness across all business units, including cash handling, purchasing, inventory, and disbursement controls.
  • Ensure consistent financial practices, cost controls, and GAAP compliance across all locations.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, and regulatory filings, including sales and use tax and applicable tire and environmental fees.
  • Manage relationships with outside CPAs, auditors, lenders, insurers, and other financial partners.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Lead the annual budget and ongoing forecasting process in partnership with the CFO and operating leaders.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight on sales, gross profit, labor, and expense trends to support decisions at the executive, district, store, and warehouse level.
  • Evaluate pricing strategies, product and service mix, and new location or expansion opportunities.

Cash Management

  • Maintain a rolling cash forecast and support cash flow, liquidity, and working capital management.
  • Monitor vendor payment timing, collections, and credit exposure across entities.

Profitability & Operations Partnership

  • Work with operations to improve profitability at the store and warehouse level, including labor, expense control, margin, and inventory performance.
  • Support district and store leadership by explaining financial results and helping turn performance gaps into action plans.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting systems, reporting, and processes with a focus on scalability and automation.
  • Document policies and procedures and ensure consistent practices as the company adds locations and entities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional credential strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership role.

  • Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, consolidations, GAAP, internal controls, and audit coordination.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, pricing strategies, and service-based revenue models.
  • Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems and advanced Excel; experience with POS and retail reporting data a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to turn financial data into clear recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain financial results to non-finance leaders.
  • Leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to build and develop an accounting team.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and sound judgment with confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment focused on scalability.
  • Hands-on, collaborative approach with a willingness to roll up sleeves alongside the team.
