Roanoke College is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-service oriented individual to join the Accounting team and participate in the accelerating momentum created through the roll-out of College's strategic plan. Primary responsibilities include providing accurate and timely financial services to the College community through exemplary customer support services to students, parents, faculty, and staff. The Accountant is responsible for various accounting functions, including monthly bank account reconciliations, preparation and processing of general ledger entries and maintaining fixed asset records. Applies generally accepted accounting principles and procedures in working with specialized accounting records and reports. Assembles and analyzes data and transactions, prepares statements and reports relating to assigned area of responsibility.

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field of study . Ability to operate under minimal supervision, prioritize work and meet deadlines, and handle sensitive issues. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with large data sets to create financial reports. Excellent written and oral communication and strong organizational skills

Preferred qualifications: Experience with bank reconciliations and cash management. Prior fund accounting, especially in the higher education field. Experience with Ellucian Colleague and/or Synoptix a plus.
