Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer III is responsible for developing moderate to complex electrical system designs for new products as well as design improvements for legacy products. Responsibilities also include exercising sound engineering judgement, presenting analysis summaries which support design decisions, and coaching R&D staff. This senior level position in the R&D department is generally intended for electrical engineers with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and significant relevant work experience. The Electrical Engineer III works both independently and in a team environment with Electrical Engineers, Design Engineers, Project Managers, and Test Technicians. An Electrical Engineer III frequently initiates collaboration with all departments within R&D.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Develop innovative electrical component, assembly, and system level designs in Altium to meet product requirements.
  • Develop and check PCBA layout drawings in Altium and perform component / assembly tolerance analysis and functional interface between sub-assemblies as necessary.
  • Supervise and develop complete electrical system level designs thru the PLM system.
  • Contribute technical leadership to R&D projects in a team setting to meet project cost targets, budget requirements and delivery dates.
  • Develop verification test plans, check the accuracy of test results, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Responsible for the manufacturability and overall cost of complete products.
  • Responsible for applying industry best practices for manufacturability as well as identify and implement new technologies.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement in technical information (i.e., process records, schematics drawings, SOP's, prototype, and fixture drawings) as needed to evaluate and support product design operations.
  • Provide technical assistance company-wide including outside vendors.
  • Conduct MultiSIM, Proteus, CircuitLOGIX, and XSPICE analysis, and other numerical simulations as required.
  • Technical Ownership within the SIG NPI process (New Product Introduction).
  • Design and schematic drawing checker for other electrical engineers in R&D.
  • Engages in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participates in and sustains 5S.
  • Must follow all required ISO procedures, comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements, and adhere to SIG SAUER, Inc. security mandates.

Education, Experience, and Required Skills:



  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 6+ years' experience as an electrical engineer required.
  • Demonstrates expert level skill in the use the following software programs, Altium, LabView, Visual Studio and C/C++ development environments, RTOS systems, Verilog/VDHL and Agile PLM.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Project and Visio.
  • Classwork and practical electrical engineering design experience.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in schematic, mathematical or diagram form.
  • Has experience in supplier capabilities, cost analysis, and process in the manufacture of components and PCBA fabrication to required specifications.
  • Ability to write and review reports and procedures, and effectively present information to team members and management.
  • Ability to define and resolve problems by collecting and analyzing data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and executing solutions.
  • Experience using and maintaining firearms is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be.


Working Conditions:



  • Able to lift up to 25.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated.
