1st Shift Electrician | Dodge Center, MN

McNeilus Steel, Inc. is accepting applications for a new team member to join our team as an Electrician. Electricians are scheduled on a 40-hour week but generally work up to 50 or more hours a week to get several projects completed on time. 1st Shift times are flexible with start times between 6am and 8am; working 8-hour shifts.

Nature of Work

Electricians install, connect, test, and maintain a variety of electrical systems throughout company buildings for purposes of climate control, communications, machine operation, lighting, and numerous business equipment. Electricians work with blueprints of the warehouse layout to determine proper locations for installing or repairing electrical systems. Electricians are responsible for ensuring that their work follows the National Electric code and complies with all state building codes and regulations.

Electricians may perform work on top of ladders, scaffolds or hoists. Electricians work a standard 40-hour week and may frequently work overtime if required. Occasional evening and weekend shifts are common during expansion activities or during downtime of vital machine operations. Electricians may perform non-electrical duties on campus as needed.

Duties/ Responsibilities



  • Periodically inspect equipment to locate and correct problems before they occur
  • Replace or install circuit breakers, fuses, switches, and other electrical components as requested or needed
  • Install low voltage wiring systems in addition to a building's electrical system for use of data transfer, and communications
  • Research and review new electrical equipment, technologies, and Federal or State regulations
  • Assist with any maintenance functions and repairs when requested
  • Maintain an adequate level of supplies needed for routine duties
  • Must operate crane and forklift skillfully and safely
  • Learn, understand, and comply with OSHA requirements, company safety rules, and health policies at all times, working according to good safety practices as posted, instructed, and discussed
  • Use all safety devices, equipment, and PPE as directed and provided for protection
  • Perform other duties as instructed or assigned


Qualifications



  • Technical degree in Electrical field of study
  • Apprenticeship experience of five or more years
  • Valid Journeyman or Master license
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in fluent English
  • Ability to work well as a team member or with little supervision
  • Forklift and crane certified
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of computer operations and applications
  • Ability to logically and effectively resolve problems as they arise
