POSITION OVERVIEW The Overhead Electric Field Safety Representative is responsible for overseeing assigned work areas and provides support for personnel training, safety inspections, and/or follow-ups, and other HSE activities related to the company, client, or regulatory compliance. The Overhead Electric Field Safety Representative will have in-depth knowledge of the company's Overhead Electric Safe Operating Practices and their application on the job. NOTE: This position is a part-time position with the potential to become a full-time position. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with the Overhead Electric Department Managers and Foreman to provide employee mentoring, coaching, and guidance in making safe choices while working to foster an incident and injury-free workplace.
- Helps to ensure that the company maintains compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, and stays informed of proposed regulation changes and safety emphasis and focus programs.
- Serves as a contact for agency inspections and inquiries.
- Conducts/Assists in response to any investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses.
- Analysis of industry workplace incident/injury/near miss trends and frequencies, specifically those associated within assigned work area and related to company operations.
- Assists Safety Management and Operations Team in development and implementation of preventative measures/controls based on incident findings and root cause analysis.
- Maintains HSE performance reporting data for their assigned work area.
- Leads and helps facilitate, train, and present material on HSE performance, incidents, and trend/analysis data at crew engagement sessions.
- Monitors frequency and ensures regular testing of rubber gloves and sleeves, protective cover-up, protective grounds, mechanical jumpers, fall protection and harnesses, dielectric testing of electrical equipment, and other overhead electric construction tools and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Associates degree in safety science or related field preferred.
- 2 years minimum experience as a Journeyman Lineman and/or experienced in overhead electric and safety training.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of underground gas & electric distribution construction practices preferred
- Must have some DOT and overhead electric tooling and equipment knowledge and be able to provide training and support in these areas as needed.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety rules and regulations.
- Must have a valid state driver's license with a good, clean driving record.
