Join the team responsible for the smart instruments that differentiate Baker Hughes' control valves from its competitors.The IET Industrial Valves & Gears Digital Products team engineers control valve instruments and related tools and applications. As the Test Team Lead, you will be hands-on and leading the test engineers and lab technicians collaborating with firmware, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, supplier, and domain experts in a global team to deliver industry-leading technology.

As an Instrument Sr Test Engineer, Team Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with Digital Products' leadership and stakeholders to execute the team's commercial roadmap on time and within budget.
  • Guiding talent development and growth toward being a highly-performant team.
  • Allocate talent to execute project requirements. Balance the allocation of resources to achieve the greatest risk mitigation and/or opportunity benefits while ensuring team productivity.
  • Managing the Instrument Lab space and fixtures; organizing the following 5S. Balance functional, operational, and customer/demo capabilities.
  • Identifying needs and providing inputs to budget planning for upgrades such as equipment and automation.
  • Understanding high-level project and program requirements and translating them into test program targets.
  • Leveraging Agile/Scrum processes to coordinate test program development with the project manager; firmware, software, mechanical, and electrical engineers; and other disciplines.
  • Collaborating with key program stakeholder groups to effectively and successfully define and complete program deliverables.
  • Defining and scoping test plans for electrical, mechanical, and firmware elements; leading project and program test execution. Provide expertise and feedback to engineering teams to streamline informal and formal testing.
  • Identifying and managing technical risk; understanding trade-offs.
  • Supporting field, customer, and warranty escalations.
  • Guaranteeing the high quality of released documentation and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrating accountability to meet team, business, and Company objectives.
  • Ensuring the team's adherence to HSE and compliance requirements.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering plus a minimum of 6 years' experience.
  • Have demonstrated expertise in test planning, development, and execution in a multi-disciplinary project or program team.
  • Be a clear thinker: make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information.
  • Have interpersonal skills and the ability to interface effectively with different levels within and across the organization.
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset that allows you to be self-directed, highly resilient, creative, and solution-oriented.
  • Have the ability to operate iteratively to define and prioritize work based on technical dependencies, required resources, and commercial needs.
  • Have a strong desire to learn and grow.
