PD Building Service Worker Req #: 0000170537 Category: Housekeeping Status: Per Diem Shift: Night Facility: Jersey City Medical Center Department: Environmental Services Location: Jersey City Medical Center, 355 Grand Street, Jersey CIty, NJ 07302 Job Overview: Under the supervision of a Department of Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor or Manager, the Building Service Worker cleans and supplies patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with the Medical Center objectives. Qualifications: Required: Successful completion of general and department specific orientation Preferred: GED or High School Diploma Hospital housekeeping Scheduling Requirements Per Diem status: (flexibility to work days, evening, or night) Has to be able to work, weekends, and holidays schedule as needed Essential Functions: Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request Cleans housekeeping closet and maintains par levels Collects and transport all waste, including RMW, according to policy Compacts Trash or places in container Damp buffs and shampoo carpets with approved equipment Dry and wet mops floors of rooms and offices Dust mops and wet mops corridor, stairwells and other common areas Empties waste receptacles and removes trash Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs made when needed Observes and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods Performs patient discharge cleaning using 9-step cleaning procedure Refills paper towels, toilet paper, soap and toilet seat dispensers Returns promptly from errands, breaks, meals Scrubs and burnishes floors with approved equipment Transport bulk trash from designated collection points to compactor area Uses and prepares solutions according to procedure Vacuums carpets Cleans and maintains the integrity of the medication rooms At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
