Assists Pharmacist in filling, compounding, and dispensing physician orders. Performs various technical duties involved with the handling, packaging, and delivery of pharmaceuticals. Provides patient care services to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Materials Management

  1. Utilizes knowledge of inventory control to assure proper medication storage and product integrity; performs scheduled removal of outdated products and maintains adequate drug
  2. Maintains Code Blue and other charts in accordance with applicable policies to assure compliance with ACLS for emergency
  3. Assures quality of pharmaceuticals by maintaining cleanliness of work areas which includes, but is not limited to, counter tops, hoods, floors, chemo prep areas, and trash
  4. Distributes floor stock to care areas as necessary using knowledge of automated dispensing system; processes floor stock requisitions for pharmacist approval and maintains associated paperwork; performs emergency re-stock of non-controlled medication using emergency procedures for automated dispensing
  5. Performs physical inventory of pharmaceuticals, assures par levels, and types purchase
  6. Receives pharmaceuticals under direction of a pharmacist and compares against appropriate invoices and purchase orders; reports variances to the assigned pharmacist.

REQUIRED

  1. High school diploma or
  2. Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Georgia.
  3. Non-certified technicians will have a maximum of two (2) years from their date of hire or change of status to a pharmacy technician job class at Northside Hospital to achieve certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

PREFERRED

  1. Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
