Summary


PlayCore seeks a Data Visualization Specialist to join the growing CORE Data Service Lab (CDSL) team that provides unique services to a variety of market segments related to play, recreation and outdoor spaces. The Specialist is responsible for effective tools and analyses that will serve as the backbone for various CORE Data Lab analyses and differentiated data storytelling customer outputs. The Data Visualization Specialist completes a variety of analyses and develops innovative customer deliverables by leveraging third party partner platforms, customizable tools and services. The role will specialize in using GIS for geospatial analyses, curating publicly available datasets to grow our robust library of data sources, and integrating innovative methodologies to enhance our analytic portfolio and platform capabilities to support scalability. The specialist will be knowledgeable of relevant marketplace data services and technologies and ensure our platforms are aligned to our framework and relevant to our target customer segments. The role will be responsible for enhancing our data portfolio, storytelling/translation, visualization, customer use-cases, and differentiated services. The position will also play a critical role in strategic initiatives and innovative customer deliverables that are presented through reports, customer pitches, and data storytelling share-outs with a variety of stakeholders.

Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Data Services Products, Platforms and Analyses

  • Research, recommend, and support hardware and software to align services to our data storytelling framework, improve data visualization deliverables and expand services to support the business.
  • Provide expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including data/file management, geospatial analyses, and storymapping in ESRI for customer outputs and internal analyses.
  • Analyze robust data sources and effectively format data to tell relevant stories through data visualization and insights.
  • Uphold data integrity through statistical methods and reporting and continuous quality processes.
  • Solve internal and external data visualization and communications challenges in a variety of formats including infographics, charts, diagrams, and maps.
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative methods/analyses for National Demonstration Site program and Custom data projects.
  • Participate in project meetings and cross functional collaborations relating to appropriate data visualization/information needs to meet project requirements and ensure continuous quality improvements.
  • Complete ongoing competitive analyses and benchmarking to ensure expertise on innovative technologies and analytics and understand the trends and needs of our customers.


Customer Facing Reporting

  • Coordinate backend analysis, data management processes, and data translation techniques to ensure alignment to the Community Vitality Index for all customer deliverables.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to ensure consistency with the overall branding guidelines.
  • Work with CDSL team on National Demonstration Site projects including creation of relevant reports and other ad-hoc analysis. Coordinate with NDS Analyst on template and formatting of reports for scalability and quality.
  • Assist with creation of Statewide Initiative Reporting and coordination with Marketing on asset deliverables.
  • Create and deliver other Strategic Account reports (NDS+, Impact Areas/Opportunity Zones, etc.) to support the business.
  • Assist in developing analysis for Custom Data projects.
  • Assist in coaching Agency Partners (where applicable) of creation and delivery of reports.
  • Assist in projects related to Business Intelligence and other Business Unit data initiatives.


Other



  • Support annual budgeting and outcomes reporting processes.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the CDSL Supervisor.
  • Assist in creation of larger customer and internal facing Dashboards using ESRI, Power BI, or other applicable technologies

Education and/or Experience



  • Required bachelor's degree, and a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in data visualization/information design, geospatial mapping, or other advanced analytics.
  • Emphasis in data storytelling and research translation preferred.
  • Preferred background in working with planning/ analysis around parks &/or urban spaces.


Travel



  • Travel up to 25% of the time for company events, professional learning conferences, trade shows, and customer/distribution outreach meetings and sessions.


Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word,PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with ESRI, database management, and other data platforms.
  • Ideal candidate will have some experience with other common data platforms (Power BI, Tableau, etc).

  • Ability to create data-based reports, correspondence, presentations, and narrative translation content.
