CULTURE
Our Sustainable Competitive Advantage
Business Person First
No matter your role at EOG, you’re a business person first. And since we’re all shareholders, we think like owners. We’re entrepreneurs and innovators, not bureaucrats. Our decentralized approach means decisions are made where the work is done by collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams. By remaining humble and intellectually honest, we’ll continue to improve and stay competitive. Our culture drives EOG’s success.
Information Technology
Owning Data from Creation to Delivery ™
Data is at the heart of EOG’s sustainable and ever increasing technological competitive advantage. EOG’s real-time data capture and our ability to transport that data to decision makers is enabling us to operate at the speed of thought. Our massive proprietary integrated data warehouses and predictive analytics are unraveling mysteries and simplifying the complex before our eyes daily. And, more critically, our 100+ proprietary, in-house developed, mobile and desktop apps give everyone at EOG a virtual control room in.
SUSTAINABILITY
Focusing Our Energy on the Future|
- Environmental Innovative processes. Leading technology. Efficient operations. We reduce our environmental footprint using the same tools we use to find and produce low-cost oil and gas.
- Social Engagement with our communities. Diversity of our workforce. Safety of our employees. Our unique culture is more than a competitive advantage, it’s fundamental to our social sustainability.
- Governance Ethics. Respect. Fairness. Governance at EOG is more than just complying with the law, it’s about ethically conducting our business to build trust among all our stakeholders.
Commitment to Sustainability
We believe that responsible stewardship of all of EOG’s resources – our assets, the environment, our people and the communities in which we live and work – is an essential part of our long-term success. Our goal is to be a leader in environmental, social and governance initiatives and we strive to continually improve our performance every year. We continue to focus on responsible stewardship by asking ourselves, how we can reduce emissions, be more energy efficient, attract diverse candidates to work for us, contribute to the communities in which we live and work and keep safety top of mind. We have made great progress, and will continue to do so – for the benefit of all of our stakeholders.
LEVERAGING OUR CULTURE TO HELP LOCAL COMMUNITIES
Our community giving and volunteer philosophy reflects our decentralized structure. Our operating area offices and employees are empowered to focus on issues and causes that are relevant to their local communities. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic led to a significant increase in demand for food banks. In response, EOG and its employees donated to more than 40 different food banks across our U.S. operating areas, raising a total of approximately $780,000 in the U.S. In addition, we donated over 2,000 meals to homeless families through the Star of Hope Mission as part of our Houston United Way campaign. We also donated more than 3,400 masks, other personal protective equipment and meals to health care workers across our operating areas, and contributed financially to a local brewery to make hand sanitizer for first responders in North Dakota. Our ability to respond to immediate needs across our operating areas at a local level reflects not only the strength of our decentralized culture, but also the collective spirit of giving at EOG.
Let's Get to Work

Success Beyond Salary
We know that our success comes from our intelligent, innovative, engaged, hard-working employees. Our employees are champions of the EOG culture, leaders who encourage each other to succeed and do the right thing. That’s why we do more than just provide competitive salaries and annual bonus opportunities. We have a holistic value proposition. We also want to help our employees build wealth, stay healthy, be protected when life happens, meet and exceed their personal and career goals, and maintain a good work/life balance. We believe that when everyone contributes, everyone wins.
